Cultured Pearl and 18ct gold Mikimoto Pearls circle bow brooch
A Mikimoto open circle brooch comprising of 11 Akoya cultured pearls joining with an 18ct yellow gold stylised bow at 4 o’clock. The brooch is mounted in all 18ct yellow gold and on the reverse traditional struck UK hallmarks and the pin closes securely into a roll over safety catch.
Kokichi Mikimoto, the founder of Mikimoto, is renowned for successfully creating the world’s first cultured pearls over a Century ago in 1893. Today Mikimoto jewellery is renowned for its fine quality, elegant designs and extraordinary lustre. Measurements - 27mm diameter | This is an individual brooch by the superb makers E. Wolfe & Co. established in 1850 and specialise in making bird and animal jewellery, with each piece being unique. The Alsation is made from 18ct gold, which is exquisitely hand chased to create the effect of the fur. Set with cabochon cut Sapphires for its eyes and with black onyx set for its nose. The piece is completed with an 18ct white gold moveable collar set with a diamond for that added luxury. Secured with a Trombone brooch fastener for safety, this gives it extra strength in how it supports the brooch. Measures 5.4cm long from Head to tail | 3.2cm high from Ears to feet | Garnet and citrine spray brooch, with 2 clusters of garnets around a central citrine and dropping tear drop garnets. All set on top of gold bull rushes with rose gold tops, and yellow gold fern sprays. Mounting all in 9ct gold. A superb example of Alabaster and Wilson brooches at their finest.
