Royal Flying Corps enamel Regimental brooch 15ct yellow gold mount
An excellent Regimental brooch of The Royal Flying Corps. This sweetheart brooch has superbly detailed gold wings with textured finish. The RFC insignia enamelled inna bright red, on top of a green enamelled laurel wreath and embellished with a Kings crown and red enamel. The gold used in this brooch is all 15ct yellow and the condition of the piece given its age is superb. The wings have a lovely curvature which is shown in the picture of the brooch on its side. The RFC was the earliest form of the what would then become the RAF when it merged with the Royal Navy Air Service in 1918. All indicators as the the age of this brooch, being at least easily 100 years old and still in excellent condition.
The brooch would have been made before 1932, as that is when they stopped using 15ct gold. This was always reserved for the higher quality pieces and it is secured in place with a very traditional C safety clasp, again typical of a much older brooch.

A circular gold wreath surrounds the whole piece and it finished with the Kings crown with red enamel. This is a set on a gold bar brooch. The gold used is stamped 15ct on the bar and the emblem itself is engraved by hand with 15ct. Measures 45mm wide x 23mm tall Second hand | Sapphire quatrefoil bar brooch, with seed pearl circular surround. 4 round cut sapphires set in millenarian mount with central seed pearl, each seed pearl will be set in plaster of Paris and all in 15ct gold mount. Measures 45mm wide x 23mm tall Second hand | This striking brooch is in the form of three 18ct yellow gold leaves set with fifteen graduating rubies on the centre leaf, five scattered diamonds on the left leaf and the right hand side leaf has been left plain. The gold has been cut like the veins on a leaf and catch the light when worn. All gemstones are held by four claw settings and are mounted on the surface of the leaves. The pin is securely fastened with a handmade tiffany safety catch.
